5 Social Media Management Platforms that Will Save You Time

Your time is precious.

If you’re still manually posting social media content for your business, you’re wasting valuable time — and missing out on key insight into your social media analytics.

With all the blog posts, tweets, articles, and photos you have to share, finding a reliable social media management platform is essential to staying organized.

In addition to scheduling content, many social media posting platforms allow you to:

  • Dig into key analytics
  • Follow conversations about your brand
  • Watch certain hashtags
  • Keep track of customers, influencers, and prospects
  • And more!

With thousands of social media management platforms out there, it can be overwhelming to find the one that’s best for your business. That’s why we’re showcasing five social media management platforms that are sure to save you time.

Try These 5 Time-Saving Social Media Posting Platforms

As a creative content strategist who manages various 9 Clouds social media accounts, I’m always looking for ways to improve efficiency and engagement with our content.

After some extensive research, here are the five social media management platforms I recommend, based on four key factors:

  1. Publishing features
  2. Social engagement
  3. Analytics and reporting
  4. Cost

I’ve rated each of these four factors on a scale of one to five, followed by an overall score for the social media management platform as a whole.

Let’s dig in!

1. Buffer

Publishing: 5/5

Buffer is 9 Clouds’ posting platform of choice. From my experience, this platform is one of the simplest to grasp — making it a great option for new businesses just starting out.

Once you’ve added your social media profiles, you can schedule posts for all your accounts at once. Buffer will automatically publish your posts according to your preferred posting times.

Social Engagement: 5/5

Buffer’s “Reply” feature allows you to see comments and direct messages from your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts all in one place. This allows you to easily respond and interact with your followers without switching back and forth between accounts.

Buffer “Reply” also interacts beautifully with Slack, so you can forward mentions and comments to your team members!

Analytics and Reporting: 5/5

Analyzing your social media engagement is the only way to see if your social media strategy is working. With Buffer’s “Analytics Reporting” feature, you can easily check your social media post performance.

Filter posts by most popular to least popular, and create reports to send to your manager or clients. The best part? Analytics is included in every Buffer plan, not just paid plans (as is the case with many other social media management platforms).

Cost: 5/5

Buffer has options from $15/month all the way up to professional business plans, with the most robust plan priced at $99/month.

Overall Score: 5/5

With its easy-to-use publishing and analytics features and multiple affordable plans, I give Buffer a 5/5.

2. Hootsuite

Publishing: 5/5

Hootsuite offers bulk scheduling, which allows you to upload multiple posts to multiple social accounts at once. You can get a clear overview of all your scheduled content displayed in a list or shown in a daily, weekly, or monthly view.

Social Engagement: 5/5

Always be part of the conversation when you set up unlimited social streams in Hootsuite. Monitor keywords, hashtags, and locations to hear what people are saying about you, your competitors, and your industry.

Analytics and Reporting: 5/5

With Hootsuite analytics, you get a clear and concise overview of key metrics, so you won’t get overwhelmed by too many statistics. You can also build reports and share them with clients and team members.

Cost: 4/5

You can start using Hootsuite with a free 30-day trial. After the trial period, you will need to select a plan ranging from $29/month all the way up to $599/month. The higher the price, the more features included.

Overall Score: 5/5

Hootsuite boasts some of the top features on the social media platform market, although you will definitely pay for it. I give Hootsuite a score of 5/5.

3. Sprout Social

Publishing: 5/5

Sprout Social is similar to Buffer and HootSuite when it comes to scheduling; it allows you to view and manage social posts across multiple profiles and networks.

One unique feature of Sprout Social is that you can maintain your images and logos in the “Asset Library.” You can even add simple filters and text overlays to the images to make your posts look more uniform and professional.

Social Engagement: 5/5

Like HootSuite, Sprout Social allows you to monitor hashtags and keywords to keep up with important conversations about your industry and competitors.

With Sprout Social’s “Smart Inbox,” you’ll never miss a message or mention from any of your social networks. Filter your inbox by profile, keyword, message type, or time period to help you stay organized.

Analytics and Reporting: 5/5

Let your data tell your social media story. With Sprout Social, you have 18 presentation-ready reports available at your fingertips, including an engagement report, Google Analytics report, tag report, Facebook competitors report, and more!

Cost: 4/5

As with HootSuite, you can try out Sprout Social for free for 30 days. After that, select a plan ranging from $99/month to $249/month.

Overall Score: 4/5

Sprout Social’s analytics and reporting features alone would make this social media platform worth the investment. I give Sprout Social an overall score of 4/5.

4. Crowdfire

Publishing: 5/5

Like the platforms highlighted above, Crowdfire allows you to schedule posts on all of your various social media accounts. When you schedule a post, Crowdfire will automatically show you a preview of the post, so you can see it as your audience will.

Social Engagement: 5/5

Follow relevant people and competitors, engage with fans, monitor inactive accounts you are currently following, and see which accounts unfollowed you — all within Crowdfire.

Crowdfire will also suggest relevant articles for you to share and provide image recommendations!

Analytics and Reporting: 4/5

With Crowdfire’s analytics, you can see which posts performed well and which ones didn’t. From here, you can easily reschedule the best-performing posts!

Cost: 5/5

Crowdfire has a free plan option that allows you to schedule social media posts for one account with up to 10 scheduled posts at a time, making it a great option for small businesses.

Want more than the basic features? Upgrade to to Crowdfire’s Plus Plan, Premium Plan, or VIP Plan at $9.99/month, $49.99/month, and $99.99/month, respectively.

Overall Score: 4/5

Crowdfire has the basic tools you need to monitor your social media posts at an affordable cost. Overall, I give this platform a score of 4/5.

5. MeetEdgar

Publishing: 5/5

If you’re looking to drastically save time, you may want to check out the MeetEdgar social media scheduling platform. All you need to do is add your content to the library, and MeetEdgar automatically writes status updates based on the article you want to share and then schedules the posts for you!

Social Engagement: 3/5

Founded in 2014, MeetEdgar is still fairly new to the social media management game. From what I can tell, its social engagement features are very limited.

However, if your business doesn’t typically receive many direct messages or mentions on social media, MeetEdgar will most likely be able to meet your social media scheduling needs.

Analytics and Reporting: 2/5

For now, MeetEdgar is strictly a social media scheduling platform, so analytics and reporting aren’t top priorities for this company.

You can still access basic analytics for your social posts within each social media platform (as long as they are business accounts).

Cost: 5/5

MeetEdgar’s business plan includes all of its services for an affordable $49/month. They also added their Edgar Lite option for individuals and companies that only need 3 social media accounts for $19/month.

MeetEdgar has a small but personal support team, so you also get unlimited access to human support with both plans. This support can be very valuable, especially in your first few months of using the platform, when you’re bound to have questions.

Overall Score: 3/5

MeetEdgar is great because it keeps their plans simple. However, I’d like to see some analytics and reporting features in this tool, which is why I give MeetEdgar a 3/5 ranking.
