3 Email Templates for Auto Dealers to Steal
The question is . . . what exactly is that message?
If you’re stuck on what to write in your dealership emails, don’t sweat it. We’ve all experienced writer’s block when it comes to dealer email marketing.
As an automotive marketing agency, though, we don’t experience that writer’s block too much. In fact, over the years of working with auto clients, we’ve established a huge library of email templates that we use to help dealers close sales.
And today, we’re going to share them with you.Download the Email Templates Now →
Top 3 Emails Your Dealership Should Send
Below, you’ll find our top three email templates for auto dealers, plus a list of extra resources you can use to improve your dealer email marketing.
Of course, you’ll want to customize the text to suit your specific audience. (After all, that’s what automotive inbound marketing is all about.) But feel free to use these templates as starting points for your email marketing efforts.
1. The First-Touch Email
In place of (or in addition to) a follow-up phone call, email new leads to see how you can help them along the automotive buyer’s journey.
Since this will be your first email communication with the lead, don’t scare them off. Keep your first-touch email short and sweet — something like this:
My name is [Sarah], and I’m a sales rep at [Klongerbo Kia]. Thanks for requesting more information on the [Kia Optima]. It’s one of my personal favorite cars!
Do you have any questions about the [Optima]? I’d be happy to tell you more about its special features and show you all our [Optimas for sale]. We can even arrange a test drive if you’d like.
Please call me at [999-999-9999] or reply to this email to let me know how I can help you out.
I look forward to hearing from you![Sarah Klongerbo]Sales Representative[Klongerbo Kia]
2. The “Happy Birthday” Email
Looking for new leads? Use your customer relationship management (CRM) system to find customers who may be ready for a new vehicle (or at least some service on their current one).
On the first anniversary of a customer’s purchase, send them a “happy birthday” email that encourages them to come back in. It could go something like this:
Happy first birthday to your vehicle! On behalf of the sales staff at [Klongerbo Kia], I hope you still love your [Kia Optima] as much as you did the day you drove it off the lot.
If your [Optima] is ready for some service, our trained technicians can handle whatever you need. Check out our current service specials, or make an appointment online.
Thinking about adding to your car family? Feel free to browse our inventory online to see our latest arrivals.
If there’s anything I can do to assist you, please call me at [999-999-9999].
Best regards,[Sarah Klongerbo]Sales Representative[Klongerbo Kia]
3. The Review Request Email
Online reviews are critical to a dealership’s success. But how do you persuade someone to leave one?
By sending a review request email, you can encourage more positive reviews of your store (and avoid those nasty negative reviews that spring up unsolicited). Here’s an example of what you could say:
Thank you for purchasing your [Kia Optima] from [Klongerbo Kia]. I hope you’re loving your new ride!
We want to make sure everyone has an excellent experience at our store. If you have a minute, please tell us what you think of [Klongerbo Kia] by leaving us a review online.
If for any reason you are not fully satisfied with your experience at our dealership, please call me at [999-999-9999]. I’ll do whatever I can to make things right.
Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again soon![Sarah Klongerbo]Sales Representative[Klongerbo Kia]

Want more email templates like these?
The Internet is full of free resources for dealer email marketing. We like this list of “12 CRM-Ready Sales Email Templates to Send Today” from our pals at HubSpot.
Your email marketing platform probably has some built-in templates to use, too. Search your system’s library for email designs you can download, or try a few of these from Constant Contact and MailChimp.
We’d recommend you take those templates and give them a personal touch, though. You don’t want to sound like every other dealership who reads Digital Dealer or uses MailChimp.
If you want to take your email marketing to the next level, try sending automated emails. These emails — what we call workflows — send automatically to contacts whenever they meet certain criteria.
