Ranch Uses Facebook to Boost Profits at Bull Sale

The Challenge

A working Angus ranch wanted to do livestock digital marketing for its 40th Annual Bull Sale. The team had previously done local print and TV advertising, along with organic social media, to promote previous sales, but paid online advertising was new to them.

This operation specializes in ranching and bull production, but when it came to exploring the online advertising market, the team knew they needed to look to digital marketing experts. Their goal was to find a partner who had competence and expertise in online ads to take their marketing to the next level.

The Solution

The ranch worked hand in hand with 9 Clouds to produce content that shared its voice, creative, and branding for a short-term project to promote its bull sale.

The goal of the project was to increase print catalog requests as well as increase overall gross profit from the auction.

Throughout the month and a half before the bull sale, 9 Clouds focused on Facebook and Google Ads to target similar audiences to previous customers, target keyword-specific searches, and remarket to website browsers who had not yet requested a print catalog.

The Results

With a small digital advertising budget, the 9 Clouds team increased requests for print catalogs by more than 200 from the year prior.

All of our Facebook ads did exceptionally well:

  • Average cost per click (CPC): $0.13
  • Average click-through rate (CTR): 3.34%
  • Direct catalog requests from Facebook campaigns: 120

And, in just six weeks leading up the sale, our Google Search and Google Display ads followed suit:

  • Average click-through rate (CTR) on search ads: 4.5%
  • Average cost per click (CPC): $0.69
  • First-time website visitors: 70.23%

Our client increased gross profits by a good margin at the 40th Annual Bull Sale. They appreciated the 9 Clouds team for helping to produce a higher profit margin at the sale and to sell off their production herd, noting our sincere commitment to their goals.

Digital marketing can make a big impact on any project, no matter the size. From small, seasonal events or projects to ongoing marketing services, the team at 9 Clouds can take your business to the next level.
