My First Week at 9 Clouds: No Sunday Scaries, Just Gratitude
When you’re six months pregnant, navigating prenatal depression, and know in your heart that you don’t want to return to your previous position, job hunting can feel absolutely terrifying.
I was in a season of life where I was looking for more than just another job, I wanted a fresh start where I could focus on my true strengths and passions. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t question whether I was even good enough.
Just as those doubts started to settle in, I attended a networking event where I met Tessa. We connected instantly, especially since she was also pregnant and truly understood the challenges I was facing. During one of our conversations, she mentioned an open position at her company, 9 Clouds, as an Account Manager. She spoke so highly of the company culture and how supported she felt as a working mom-to-be.
From Fear to Excitement
Fast forward to nine weeks postpartum — my first day at 9 Clouds. You’d think I would’ve been nervous, juggling new motherhood and reentering the workforce. But I wasn’t. I was excited. Genuinely excited.
From the moment I walked in, I was met with warmth, support, and more guidance than I ever expected. The open, collaborative workspace was exactly what I needed and new high-tech gear was all set at my desk. Then someone asked if I had any grocery or snack requests for the office… I was amazed.
A company that cares about their team’s mental health, wellness, and even snack preferences? Say less.
A Culture That Truly Cares
Within just one week, I felt more valued than I ever have in my professional life — and that’s not an exaggeration. The onboarding process was incredibly organized (a dream for someone like me who thrives on structure), and I felt supported every step of the way.
But what truly sealed the deal for me was being able to join the team for their annual retreat. It was held at Grand Falls Casino, which offered such warm and welcoming accommodations. We kicked things off with a team lunch, followed by a thoughtful facilitation session and engaging team-building activities. The day ended with a delicious dinner and meaningful conversations that allowed me to connect with my new colleagues on a much deeper level.
I had never experienced anything quite like it. From open, honest dialogue to intentional team-building, I witnessed a culture rooted in trust, vulnerability, and authentic connection. This wasn’t just a group of coworkers—it was a team that genuinely showed up for one another.
The leadership was inspiring, the space felt safe, and the energy made it easy to be fully myself. By the end of the retreat, I knew without a doubt: I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
More Than a Job — It’s a New Beginning
When I think back to where I was, overwhelmed, pregnant, doubting myself, and unsure if anyone would take a chance on me, this new chapter feels all the more meaningful. No Sunday Scaries here — just pure excitement to focus on my strengths, grow professionally, and be part of a team that truly values people for who they are.
