My First Week at 9 Clouds: Exploring Company Culture
First Impressions
When it comes to a new job, the first thing most individuals consider is the company culture. The way that a workplace functions is going to make or break the drive of its employees. This is especially true when it is a new employee’s first week, month, or even year.
When I was in college at South Dakota State University (GO JACKS!), I flew to Las Vegas for a travel study. While we were there, we went to Zappos headquarters to learn about their company culture.
It was eye opening for me. When the idea of company culture was introduced to me at this time, I knew right away that I value the overall environment and energy of a workplace and that company culture would be the number one thing I looked for when applying to jobs.
After being at 9 Clouds for one full week, I can easily see myself integrating with its company culture.
On my first day, they welcomed me with a team lunch. It was great to have a laid-back setting where we could talk about personal things like pets, tv shows, and hometowns. The office is very efficient, but everyone is still able to enjoy one another’s company during the workday.
Enneagrams in the Workplace
Being an enneagram type one, I thrive on making things better, improving the world, and avoiding fault. A type one enneagram is known for making plans in advance.
As an account manager at 9 Clouds, it is my job to ensure that the team is set up for success from square one. Planning the scope of a project starts with creating tangible steps and assigning tasks to be completed efficiently.
Educational Growth
9 Clouds strongly promotes and provides the team with a large capacity to learn.
On my first day, I was given “Rising Strong” by Brene Brown. The team truly utilizes concepts from the book daily, and it is apparent that it has allowed the office to be vulnerable and open in a way that is unlike any other workplace.
Something enjoyable is to open our Slack channels to see what everyone is working on or doing in their personal lives. We have fun Slack channels like Wordle and book club to share our daily Wordle results or our current reads. We also have a channel dedicated to sharing random things like photos of pets or children.
I appreciate the emphasis to continue expanding our knowledge and grow not only as a 9 Clouds employee, but as an individual. Every employee at 9 Clouds is encouraged to pursue their passions and goals.
One week down, many years to come. I have high hopes that 9 Clouds is going to become a second home for me. I look forward to coming to the office and hanging out (eh, I mean working 😉) with the team.
We are all eager for the future of the company and optimistic about continued growth. I am looking forward to being a part of an amazing team that is doing some really innovative marketing.
