A Handy New Tool: CatchYouTube.com

You just never know what you’ll find on the internet, there is so much out there just waiting to be discovered. I usually discover new things when I’m faced with a challenge of doing something new which was just the case this week.

I was working on creating a powerpoint for an upcomingevent and needed to insert a video that could be found on YouTube. Now, I’ve inserted video clips and other media before but I’ve never had to pull anything start off th web. Not sure how to go about this, I turned to one of my favorite tools – Google. Whenever I’m stuck I tend to turn to Google to help me find the answer and honestly, I usually find what I need!

So, I Googled (one of my favorite new verbs!) “how to insert a YouTube video into PowerPoint.” Just like that, I had several articles and links telling me how to do just that! After checking a few out, I discovered CatchYouTube.com. Obviously someone else had my very same problem and created a super simple tool as a solution. This handy little site has you paste in the URL of the video you need, you choose the format you need it in (it’s like ordering at Subway!) and after a few moments you have the video you requested in the format you needed all ready to download to your computer.

Once I had it downloaded, I inserted it into my presentation and it worked perfectly. Hopefully this is a tool that you might find useful in the future. CatchYouTube.com is definitely bookmarked in the tools sextion of my browser!

If you’re curious about what I was putting together – come check it out tonight in Madison, SD at Ignite SD #2. It will be held at one of Madison’s newest restaurants, Mochavino, starting at 7:30pm. Admission is free so grab a friend and be ignited!
