Cloud Control from Queen City Bakery

by on September 15th, 2009

The first thing on the agenda this week involves YOU! We need a song to act as our intro music on Cloud Control every week. Please send us suggestions on Twitter or Facebook in the next two weeks (before Monday, Sept. 28) and we will have a prize for the winner.

As usual, we thank our generous host this week; Queen City Bakery. They will be closed for the next couple weeks, but it is seriously worth the wait.

Nerd Front
*Special Bonus Facebook Link* – John’s crush on Facebook continues with the release of @ replies included in the status update feature. Simply put an @ reply in your status update and start typing your friend’s name. A drop down list will appear and you can tag any of your friends, fan pages, etc. in your status. The feature is not yet available on lite.facebook.com.

Bing Visual Search – Can’t think of that actor’s name from the movie you are watching? Look at images to help you figure out what name you are trying to search on Bing. Bing offers a bunch of categories with similar possibilities, but the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight is required – Bing will prompt you for the quick download.

Public Radio Exchange – Broadcast your radio show around the world. It might not make you rich, but it broadens your potential audience and offers a potential platform for anybody without access to a massive transmitter.

Local Front
Local Music SceneWe All Have Hooks for HandsWelcome to the Cinema – Plenty of good local music happening in Sioux Falls this week, check it out (maybe you will nominate a song you hear for our intro song?).

Go Poll Go – Hot off the press online polling tool with a list of possibilities that includes creating, embedding, answering, and geolocating polls. Created right here in the Midwest by a student (Ben) at Creighton University in Omaha, NE.

Personal Front
Roger Federer Through the Legs, Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift (don’t worry about finding these vids because Cloud Control loves you)

Sorry, no links for this section this week – but which side are you on? Make the voice of the masses heard or draw the line with a filter? Hit us up with your thoughts on crowdsourcing.

Thanks for listening and have a great week.
